Sinon, en ce qui concerne l'iPhone, tu peux Jailbreaké le dernier 3Gs en 3.1.2 (mais au reboot, il faut le débloqué via PC par Redsnow ou Blackra1n => c'est le but du présent sondage de Geohot) // il est aussi possible de Jailbreaké le 3G ou 3Gs en 3.1.3 si on n'a pas l'utilité du désimlockage... Peut être ce point sera prochainement patché... quelques rumeurs courent à ce propos, j'en parle sur le twitter de Transiphone... mais ce n'est pas encore d'actualité... @+, je surveille ce sondage pour savoir si le dongles sera commercialisé un jour ou non !!! geohot, I prefer that you create an untethered jailbreak than a dongle, it seems to me more practical. For your idea of payment, I am sure that everybody is ready to give you most possible money, but you should not exaggerate: money can't buy happiness and you may lose some visits on your blog if we must pay for this software ... that's just my opinion ...

Paying USD25.00 or so is no problem for most of us....if you can afford an iPhone, you can afford USD25.00!! The real issues here are : 1) the constant evolution of firmware/software 2) the lack of convenience of having to carry a Dongle at all time 3) the powering of such device enabling enough power to reboot a battery drained iphone just about anywhere...and more to enable the iphone to boot correctly and also not go off again 5 minutes later!! 4) The availability of such device to purchase, transport/taxes...etc....that will be very difficult in certain parts of the World; possibly not viable financially in the end too. This is why a proper software/firmware update (if at all possible) would be a much more convenient, adaptable and evolutive solution. Of course.....easier said than done! I have also donated 10 Euro to Geohot, as I firmly believe that some financial help will contribute to the project and add value to its developement, but I can understand where some people come from in term of "the principle" of hacking in today's World. .....As long as this "Principle" mentioned is not a Scape Goat for some to "conveniently" avoid to have to pay; one must possibly stay on a donation basis, and when the time is right. In any case, Thank you very much for all the hard work; if if was not for Blackrain on my Mac.......I would have been sitting with a useless iPhone in the middle of Africa that I bought in France and MUST use with a local Operator here. Lol get a fkin' job and stop thinking about charging for something that is inherently free. Just try and get the job done, and i bet youll get a profit from donatios (mine included). Trying to release and sell this kind of gadget at a fixed commercial price seems nuts, and against what this is all about. George, I'll accept to pay 100 $ for a device that unlocks. I wonder why not make it sort of a combination with a charger cable, so with an USB port on it. Assuming that most people will need the dongle because they ran out of battery, it would be great if they could, optionally, just plug it into the power outlet socket or PC USB port and reboot it seamlessly. Your device could likewise be flashed through USB (or, through the IPhone, once it is jailbreaked).

I think the most of jailbreak phones are in the outside of EEUU and they need unlock it to use in your countries.. some of them need to activate Tethering.. and some of them also need to use kraked apps. the cost of built an accessory device for jailbreak is near to 20$ in volume and you can sell it in 29$ in south America for example it will cost 60$ at last but what happen if in 2 month someone discover another method? what happen with the future firmwares? how to update it...the funtionality? i thin the best way is to take the blackra1n software for mac and PC in a Flash Memory everytime. or solve the problem via software.

As said before, an iphone already cost a lot and paying an extra cash just for get the jailbreak might a restriction for some people. I know all the advantages that the jailbreak offers are priceless but for some people would prefer just to pay 25 iphone apps of .99 cents rather than carry with other device. Despite that fact, if you allow me to call blackra1n a hack ( i know its way better than one) i d like to say the main goal of hack -exept for fun- is for not to pay (and other many reasons) You see to explain my mentality, i give an example. hey geohot, honestly i don't see why you don't make us pay for it. your giving it to us for free and we're still complaining...i wouldn't mind paying for a boot dongle or a new version of your software. people not willing to pay are just stingy fucks... they got $200 to spend on a phone might as well spend another let's say $30 to $60 for it to work exactly the way they want it to work... i voted up to $100 for the boot dongle...

An untethered jailbreak makes a lot more sense to me but if it's impossible for you to make, then I will pay for this device if it will solve this problem. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I'd prefer to donate/pay for an untethered jailbreak rather than buying a bigass dongle for reboots which I mostly do in front of a bigass computer. Anyways, keep up the good work with blackra1n and i really hope you'll continue working on this wonderful piece of software.
25$ should be the right price thinking about production costs for quantities.. we should remember that we pay about the same for a cable!!! probably people would be interested to pay for an upgradable dongle... since we have to think on 4.0 firmware ;) Anyway thanks for your work!

let me sum a bit the history 11.2009-today: 1. the balloon challenge has to be split into three topics: topic a. the whole challenge was in my opinion as success! 8 balloons, due to the fact that geo had never a chance with this kind of crappy planning: uiuiuiui I do not tell you before it starts what it is. Against a prof. org and informed team, 8 ballons is a very very good result topic b. a lot of people wanted to help, that is for sure, however outside of USA, what do they had for a chance to help? topic c. keep in mind, geo announced that we will make untethered if won 2. he is complaning against all the people who are asking for untethered. There will be always people around who are strange and different to what we expect. But complaining against these few people is childish as well! 3. no one is expecting a for free tool, keep in mind, this is always mentioned from geo that his tool is for free and not from the users! 4. so if untethered was the goody for successful balloon challenge, why does this kind of crappy dongle is now flying around. The dongle will be nothing more than a flash/usb stick with interface connector to iPhone on the back side + osx operating system on it (you can download a portable version for free in the internet) and the blackrain software in auto start up. This is not untethered, this is just trying to get some money. yes all of you are right, this will get some time and thinking, fine! 5. if so, earning money for doing a job is just fine with me, but please just do it and stop the kind of rubbish with all for free but trying to get the money. 6. actually I still do not believe that geo has any clue how to untethered the actual bootrom version and all failing of us (baloon challenge or people are rude,....) is forcing this view. so please geo try to find an end, you did a good job until now, so clear communication and stop playing games!

I wont pay squat to this money hungry person. Nobody is asking him to work for free or provide anything for free. If he chooses to do it, great. If not, his choice, but why does this guy play all these games? He asked everybody to help him win a balloon contest and he would do an untethered JB. We all tried to help him win but he didnt win so he said he will not do the untethered JB. Whats up with that? So many people did try to help him win. Isnt that what he asked us to do? But since he didnt win, he decides he will not help us? Then he claims it wasnt about the money but beating the colleges. Well, we tried to help him win, as he asked us to do, and then he decided to not help us after we helped him? Now he wants to see how much money he can make off of some doggle? If he said he could do an untethered if we help him win this contest, why can he not do an unthered now and instead wants to make and sell this doggle? Why should we trust him after he keeps going back on his word? So, we donate and then find out he decided not to do it. Will he refund our money? I tried everything to help him win that contest. I even told about 20 people to help. We took our time and trusted his word that if we helped, he would help us in return. A lot of time was put in to helping him win this contest and in return we got nothing back from him. Why would anybody pay him after he went back on his word? He'll just do it again and walk away with peoples money and give back nothing in return. I dont think anybody should pay this guy for anything

Hi geohot, without untethered the phone is just like a toy, my ice phone always show me the recovery screen when i rebooting it, it made me feel that i am using a toy of cellphone. If there is an option for you to make it boot normally like the normal icephone, i am willing to pay you $10 with others that keep ice phone boot norammaly as it should. I have no problem with paying someone for quality work. Based on some of the comments I've read, many of you seem to have a problem with George as a person. To that I say, who cares! The guy is a tremendous talent and produces "products" that are extremely useful. Would YOU want to work on something for free AND get criticized for that work? I doubt it. Pay the man a reasonable price for his time and efforts.
I'm assuming that the 'dongle' will be created on a flash drive that you already own - a la Apple TV. Solves ALL the shipping issues. For the record, Geohot saved my arse - 1st Gen iPhone tied to O2 in the UK, but now in Australia - JB is essential. And he deserves paying for it... From a profit point of view: $20 only a few will pay - $5 will get much, much more I reckon. But the guy that made a point about Cydia & Rock should also be investing, after all, how much cash do they earn off Geohot's back....

Would it be available for those of us outside the US? It can be a bit bothersome (and expensive) to ship it halfway across the world. Honestly I would rather (and am very much willing to) pay for an untethered jailbreak.
The dongle would be worth at least 25USD and I think everyone who's stuck with this annoying tethered JB will have the same opinion once one is available! 25USD to be sure you have your phone back always at hand no matter where you are.... I would pay up to £200 ($100) and maybe more for this, I would feel so much safer without the worry of my 3gs crashing on the road, it's happened once so far at a really inconvenient time! As long as you could ship it international, ie here to the UK, obviously at extra cost, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. And I hope the end results of this poll are encouraging

If this is the only way to get unteatherd jailbreak then i'm all for it. @ thoes moaning about paying for it and complaining it shud be free. @Nex - It's not like he is simply withholding an update from blackra1n that would do it, its that as far as we know, there is no exploit to perform an untethered jailbreak. If an exploit did exist, it would have been incorporated into blackra1n. @Prajna @Brantley - He was saying that if he won that contest, he would work to develop a solution. This doesn't mean that none exists now, it just means that he doesn't have the funding/time investment to spend on it. @Alex - You don't need to rejailbreak everytime if you are tethered. It just means you need a PC/dongle in order to boot it if it were to turn off or reboot.
I think that you should update your blackrain for doing untethered jb, ppl have donated you and there is a lot of ppl that dont have the posibility to get 1 of the gadgets u want 2 sell cause u and them are far from each other

I honestly don't really need an untethered jb because it would be too much of a hassle to re jb and then put everything back on, but it would be nice to know that if my iDevice breaks or I need to restore, that I can restore with an untethered jb. I would never pay for something that should be free though.
My problem is that I use Locate my iPhone feature from mobile me 'cause my last iPhone 3gs was stolen 2 weeks after I bought it. So if someone stole my phone and the battery dies I doubt thiefs know that they need to use blackrain to boot the phone. They will format with iTunes so Locate my iPhone feature byebye... The same with iLocalis and others.. Waiting for untethered jb.. :(
