Focus on the Constitution and challenge every part of each bill on its constitutionality. Either it clearly fits one of the specific enumerated powers or it doesn't. If it doesn't than fight that point in committee, on the floor and in the courts. Also start looking for real cuts to be made in the federal government (that isn't going to be hard). Enter legislation and law suits to eliminate unauthorized Departments (Education, Energy et al) and Agencies (EPA, etc.) and do everything possible to eliminate them completely. Put the Democrats, Statists and progressives (of both parties) on the defense to where they don't have the time to promote new legislation. Finally, demand the ethics committees of both houses do their job and discipline legislators of both houses and of both parties who have truly violated their oath and their responsibilities.

To All GOPs, just get back to all y'all root of conservatism and christian faiths... not of foundermentalist, but of transparent community feeling of taking care of one's neighbors. I personally agree that it's that time to simply follow the constitution that our founding father has given us to stand-by and fought for, which I truly agree with Ron Paul's stance. Now as to the poll question at hand... my answer is NO, GOP or Conservative shouldn't give in to Obama's cut-throat Chicago politics.

As much as the occasional "you lie" is fitting, the American people do respect good manners and react badly, when someone is being belittled, even if only by bad language. The quickest way to restore the socialist Democrats to favor is to mistreat them. The truth seldom needs to belittle anyone and it is only the truth that will set us free from the conniving manipulations of our government to enslave us to taxes higher than anyone could ever pay, while putting our very lives in the hands of a government-run medical system. Let's read, learn, and let others live! As for what to read, begin with America's moral philosopher, Ayn Rand.

No! The Democrats are ignoring the American People! The Democrats and RINOs are going to feel the outrage of the American voters when they sent back to their private lives. Immigration reform and Healthcare Reform are just another means of helping them stay in power by extending entitlement programs to make a bigger voting block!

Go back to the roots of the Constitution. First thing is to appeal the 17th amendment and have the senators appointed by the state legislators. This would bring back state sovreignty and the senators would be loyal to the states rather then to Washington, DC. Second to use a religious metaphor "We the people" must act like Jesus Christ and through the money lenders out of the temple. Or in governments case out of the U.S. Capital building. This can be accomplished in a few ways. I would look at state legislative models like New Hampshire and Texas. Which have a limited legislative session. Third I would cut congressional pay across the board to $5k a year for both representatives and senators. Forth and this would be true campaign finance reform. At $15k per year a member of the house of representative would be capped at spending $10k for the entire campaign and a senator at $30k for their campaigns. No more campaign contributions public or private. People running for office would have to self fund their own campaigns. By not being able to accept any campaign contributions the office holder would be loyal to their constituency and not special interests. This would also put a dent in the ugly practice of lobbying. For those that say that curtailing money is anti freedom of speech. I beg to differ. Money is not now and has never been speech. Money is a tool of commerce for the buying and selling of goods and services. This would be a good start to cleaning up the system.

As soon as you lower yourself to the pre-adolescent level the Left is maintaining, you become no better than them. I am a firm believer that you need to act with Honor and Integrity, don't allow you path to be altered and let the left continue on the current path they are on that will be the expidtious end to their means.

No. The dems have become absolutely what we do not need in Congress. We need to vote out 100% of Congress in the next 3 elections. 100%. We must remind Congress that THEY WORK FOR US. They have forgotten that point. This is the ONLY way to take control of this country back to where it should rest...with the people. Those in Congress have the mentality that we sent them there to "LEAD". The reality is that we sent them there to REPRESENT. It is not the House of Leaders, it is the House of Representatives. Currently we are being told that if we to not agree with them, tough. We are ignorant and they know what is best for us. That is NOT their role in government. It is to represent those who sent them there to represent. As for the back biting, etc. That is childish, immature, and as we are seeing today, it pisses off voters. It does no good. WHEN he republicans are back in power in 2010, they should simply stick with the conservative values that we send them there to represent. The majority of Americans are right of center. Do the right thing in representing the people and you do not have to use the hateful and arrogant tactics of the left.

Unlike the democrats talking about being transparent, all Republicans need to do is be transparent. As long as we can see for ourselves what is going on, the democrats will never stand a chance. Kill them with sunlight.

Two ways to govern. Huge government controlling government, we know better what is good for you, share the wealth; call it socialism, fascism or communism, whatever suits you. or, minimum government, little control, you,the individual are responsible for you and your future, government will do its best to get out of the way; call it free enterprise. When the Republicans got clobbered in the Johnson/Goldwater election the Republicans became Democrats, just do this and that a bit slower and less expensive. Thus the new title, the stupid party. If Republicans would return to the basics of the free enterprise system, turn the private sector loose and restrict government involvement and intrusion in our affairs we might work our way out of this current financial mess. But to 'rule' like Dem's is not only a path to disaster but evil and indecent.

I think the republicans should stick to the republican platform, listen to the American people, and begin to repeal all of the things this horrid administration has done. They also need to make the rule of law, the law of the land. I also would like to see all of the current folks investigated and prosecuted for the things they have done that violated the constitution and further if they are found to have violated laws. Going after these folks is the only way we can return to sanity and the American people will be assured no one will try what these folks have done again. If they are allowed to "get away with it", what is to stop the next group of tyrannts.

The only reason to elect a Republican is to return to the tenets of the Constitution. If a Republican shows himself to be a RINO, he too should be evicted from his office. We need statesmen and women, not more of the same crass, self-serving shills we've been putting in office over the past 20 years.

They should not govern like the Democrats have, that's what got them kicked out in the past. The Federal govt. should go back to what made this Nation great, it was indivudial states competing against each other in national framework. In the last 40 years the states are blackmailed, threatned, have had money witheld (which shouldn't have been taken by the fed gov. in the first place) from them if they didn't comply, have had the federal govt. force unfunded mandates on them. The Federal Govt. should be nutered back to what it's intended roll was in the first place. The Federal Govt. was never meant by the constitution or our founding fathers to be the ditctitoral body that it has become today. America is suppose to be about freedom and opportunity not dependence on a large bueracy thousands of miles away and out of touch with the average person. If the Republicans gain power they should start with doing away with the NEA, our children were better off before the states lost their ability to direct their own education and then they should begin to reduce and eventually eleminate all Federal Social programs. The National Endowmend of the Arts,,,,,,, that's another that should just be shut off!

  26. BV said on Mar 16 2010, 10:03 AM:

They should govern according to original intent of the Constitution. The document and supporting writings of the founders are unambiguous. Our party either believes in it or they don't. We know what the other side thinks.

  27. Ross80477 said on Mar 16 2010, 10:03 AM:

Initially, I believe that they should take every opportunity to damage the Obama Brand and expel all the liberals, both Democrat and RINO. They should be even more bold than the Democrats in their press for conservative Judges and Cabinet Appointees. They should show a willingness to close government if they don't get their way. The one thing they should never do is lie to the American People. Hardball politics is good for America, it weeds out wimps and keeps the government powers limited. Thug politics like practiced by the Chicago Maoist Cabal is not good for anyone.
