Idiot people think: Oh please please rich people, don't get mad at us, please please we need you to hire us. We're so scared of the "job creators" not having money to hire us. Please don't get mad. Real life fact: Rich people it's time to pay your way. All you have done is invest in China. You have no control over us. We don't care if you don't hire us. We don't need you. 10 years of tax breaks have done NOTHING to help us. Go F**k yourselves.
It's not going to make any difference. I also think someone has been blowing some serious smoke up the collective "holes" of certain right-leaning voters too! I continue to come across the mind set from these right-wing types that the rich should not only be taxed less (cause they already pay like half of all income taxes) but not taxed at all. And the reasoning seems to be that the rich are the people who create jobs and therefore should be "allowed" to keep their earnings so that more jobs are created. It's totally insane. And when you think about it, this reasoning sounds more like socialism than anything that the left side seems to want to do too (not that any left-winger is any great champion of the American people either). The problem is that neither side seems to recognize the flaws in their reasoning or the law. They particularly seem all too willing to ignore the fact that any kind of tax on labor is exclusively prohibited by the Constitution as set forth by our founding fathers. And yet, we've had an income tax which includes wages on labor since 1913. IT'S ILLEGAL! But when the school yard bully who takes your milk money turns out to be be the school staff and all those above them, who do you complain to?
"National sales tax" means cash and under-the-table payments. "Fair tax" is anything but. If you are born rich, you have the ultimate social security. This is what's forgotten in the argument. Just remember when you leave your house in the morning(which is three times bigger than your parent's)in a vehicle that gets about the same mileage as their 1970's station wagon... with your phone/personal computer on your hip and drink a $4.00 cup of coffee rather than brew your own cup for a dime. When you pay the bill for your kids smart phones and your cable bill(where you watch footage of a war on the other side of the world thatthere's no chance your kids will have to fight in), that you are over-taxed.
The current tax system is too complex with too many exemptions and deductions. If you eliminate the exemptions and deductions, tax everyone at a lower rate, you might be able to generate more income. You will also need to reduce spending. The problem is that the 90% of our politicians are rich. Why in the world would they want to change a system that benefits them?
I agree that the richest of those citizens among should pay something! But what is fair??? This term is just way too subjective! No...have everyone pay the same rate! What that rate is I do not know. But here is a thought: Those that complain now about the rich not paying a fair amount of taxes will surely not complain at all if by chance they happen to become one of those rich people??? Yeah right...
The economy is like a bucket of water. I doesn't matter if you skim it off the top or suck it off the bottom, you end up with less water. The top Federal rate takes over 1/3 of your income and that doesn't even count social security, state, sales, property, etc. ONE-THIRD of anyones income is too much. Quit spending and put people back to work. Cut taxes for the people that will hire you...how dumb can they be?
Who the hell are you people to tell someone what is FAIR? Is paying no income tax at all fair? The problem with this society began when the government schools began teaching the concept of fair. Take the incentive out of government by implementing a flat tax. Period. Until the tax code is overhauled we have nothing but corruption. Envy is as Greed is.
No surprise. Only flakes and the most reactionary oppose resumption of a progressive income tax. The same question is asked, this morning, at SOTS over at VNBC and the result is 6:4 in favor - at a site dedicated to investors.
Even though the same rate is regressive, at least it isn't the other way around.
Fair Tax is the answer, no deductions period, however the crooked politicians will lose control of the people and not get their under the table rewards.
"Mr. Obama will call for $1.5 trillion in tax increases, primarily on the wealthy, through a combination of closing loopholes and limiting the amount that high earners can deduct." God forbid millionaires not being able to exploit tax loopholes. God forbid if they can't deduct that thousand dollar business lunch as a work expense. Get over it corporate sheep.
You have to look deeper into what Buffet is saying when he said he doesn't pay as much tax as his secretary. she pays income tax. Buffet pays capital gains tax. two different taxes. NO, you should not pay the same tax on capital gains as you do on income tax. Flat Tax is the way to go.
This is a no brainer for people with common sense. If you have more than 1 million dollars in taxable income per year you should be paying taxes at the highest rate. That is fair. It doesn't matter who you employ or how self important you are.
who do people think hires the middle class? the wealthy, screw them and we all get screwed because they won't invest but just sit on their money.
I can't understand why a flat tax is not considered more seriously. Figure out how much the country needs against the gross national income. And done, that is the tax rate.
Focusing on the wealthy just feeds on envy to distract the masses. If there were more tax revenues, the congresscritters would just use them to buy more votes. America was doomed as soon as the population found out they could vote themselves more bread and circuses.
Now I don't believe we should gouge the rich but I do feel that they should pay at least as much as the average mille-class taxpayer pays...
The Billionaires are putting a wall between us and them. Buffett wants tax barriers to the middle class becoming wealthy. If you start to make enough money to pull ahead their is a whole new wall of taxes waiting for you. Remember Buffett already has his billions, if he feels guilty let him donate his money to his secretary. We need to lower the tax rates to the people who make under 1 million per year and let people have spending money to help the recovery, not more taxes that will squash investment in the community. I do love the idea of a flat tax.
Flat tax, 15-20% end of story. That EVERYONE pays, no bs accounting loopholes etc.
I've always wanted a flat tax rate for everyone, no deductions. This is one step closer. I would like to suggest another tax. How about taxing campaign donations. You know many politicians are using to supplement their income.
I think the system is so bad that this won't help. Resolve the blotted IRS, replace it with a flat tax or simple sales tax and we will be better off.
