Now that Mitt HAS exited the race, what do you think? Should people "draft" him to run for Senate as they did for Gov??? Kerry is weaker now than he's ever been... Weld, though more popular than Romney in MA did give him a run for his money in 1996. With Romney's prez team and $$$ the race would be interesting for sure. Thoughts? MRFT

We need to cleanse the party of draft dodgers like Mitt and Dick Cheney. Neither are fit to hold office. Nor to pretend to be manly enough to send troops in harms way. They should both ride off into the sunset with their other buddies like Widestance Larry Craig and Mitch McConnell. Lets get a photo of the group riding sidesaddle. Any other hawkish manly pretenders can join the sidesaddle brigade. John Cornyn springs to mind.

Again, please be civil and respect everyone's viewpoints when posting. Not sure why some have said the group or its members are hiding??? The original founders names are posted on the news page and each have appeared on tv, radio and in print representing the group for all to see. The group was co-founded by MA GOP Leaders Holly Robichaud and Ron Vining at the urging of grass roots activists from across the Commonwealth in 2006. The Website was launched in 2007. Today, the membership has grown to include other conservative & moderate Republicans from across the United States. We DO NOT release the names of our members unless they wish to come forward publicly. Ms. Robichaud and Mr. Vining have stepped up to take the heat as well as the accolades for the group as both are former elected officials and have faced such scrutiny before. Each have taken a lesser role over the course of the year and have allowed the members to propel the group forward. MRFT is NOT endorsed by or tied to any candidate, campaign, group, organization or PAC whatsoever. MRFT is made up of Republicans and supports Republicans! Anyone who states that MRFT is tied to ANYTHING other than MRFT is not one of our members and frankly does not know what they are talking about! Thank you, MRFT

Hey not so: "real Mass Republican". No, i am not a "member" of the group, just a visitor who signed-up a few months back. yesterday i saw your lame post and again today. Looks like you are the only one hiding as i've seen these people in print, on tv and radio. what about you? why dont you tell us all who you are you clown. what races have you won exactly mr big shot? again, i ask...what's your problem with mass R's joining with others from across the country? oh what, if you dont live in ma you can't join. what a fool. truth...they opened my eyes up to how mitt is a moderate-liberal in conservative clothing. why would the national gop want, what someone who was a horrible gov as their leader??? i'll take huck, mcain and paul before that lier any day! so what's your name again so all of us can hire you to run our campaigns since you have such a great winning record supposedly??? Hey Truth Squad: is that you Holly? Or just someone else affiliated with the site. I read your/Holly's profile on "One Lone Republican." Successful political strategist? Ha! What success did she ever have here in Massachusetts. Talk about losers! I've won more elections in Massachusetts than Holly ever has. So you want to defend this group? Let's name names. Who are these wise party leaders who know so much more than us lay-Republicans? As for my comment re: the footnote, if the organization is made up of activists from across the country, they shouldn't be passing themselves off as Mass. Republicans. And I don't see any evidence of their shining light on some mysterious "truth". What is the lie they are trying to expose? By the way, I have a great life. Maybe you LOSERS should try getting one.

I think it would be a fabulous idea for the national GOP to sink all their money into trying to defeat Kerry in Mass. I think he won by 70% last time. And by all means let Romney have at it. I am sure the state Dems will have fun replaying all of his far Right greatest hits from the Republican debates (Let's double the size of Guantanamo!!).

  12. Rich said on Jan 30 2008, 16:01 PM:

The worst move Romney could make is to drop out and go directly for another seat.By the way Jeff Beaty has already anounced his intetions to run against Kerry.Should he also drop out and switch? That ship has sailed on both ideas.

  13. Truth Squad! said on Jan 30 2008, 15:01 PM:

Last time I checked the co-founders of MRFT and some of their members had made multiple TV, Radio, Print and Blog appearances on behalf of the group. Hardly, hiding behind an entity. So what about the footnote, can't like minded conservative supporters from outside of MA join too...Get a life you REAL loser!

  14. Another MassGOP said on Jan 30 2008, 15:01 PM:

If Mitt were to leave the presidential race to challenge Kerry, he would rightly be accused of quitting one race he could not win to start another as a "consolation prize," and that he would not really want to be a senator, using that seat only to 1) be the current holder of an elected office, and 2) increase his national stature for a future presidential run. Mitt, finish this campaign. If you lose, there's always 2012. As far as Beatty and Ogonowski go, these two should get together with us, the grass roots Republicans of this state (both know me) so we can decide which candidate should run for Senate. If not, they will be wasting precious money only to beat each other up. Personally, I think Tsongas is vulnerable and Jim should challenge her.

  15. A real Massachusetts Republican said on Jan 30 2008, 15:01 PM:

I am tired of these fictitious organizations dictating who should run and for what seat. Mass Republicans for Truth? Bullshit! Even your footnote says your made of of people across the nation. How about letting Massachusetts R's decide who we want to support. And if you want to express your opinion, how about having the balls to put your names on the website and not hide behind some phony, made up entity. COWARDS!
