"Makes Grame Edge look like Buddy Rich." Now THAT'S funny. Seriously, though - Moon's superlative drumming started long before he had the multi-piece kit suggested by that first guy's comment.

Moonie was a great drummer. Altho as time went by - he was consuming WAYY too much drugs and alcohol and his stage performance was greatly affected by it. I voted for Moonie - he *is* my favorite rock drummer. Not the most solid. I'd have to give that to Mr. Bonham - but this poll was asking who my favorite was. Keith was a box of rocknroll dynamite!

Gotta disagree with you there. He dragged rock drumming out of standard 4/4, and to say that he had no finese, imagination or creativity is sheer lunacy. I will put his work on Young Man Blues, The Real Me and Bargain up as proof of finese, imagination and creativity.

I'm sorry to offend the majority, but even though Keith Moon had the most notoriety of all the nominees, he was far and away the sloppiest rock drummer ever. More respect is owed to those who can be rock-solid with a 4 or 5 piece set rather than a zillion piece set that gets hit by a stick wherever you happen to fling it. No finesse, no imagination, no real creativity. Moon suited The Who to a tee but in the larger world...gimme a bloody break! He makes Graeme Edge look like Buddy Rich.
