  1. Only Japanese Quality for Me Please said on Feb 19 2009, 09:02 AM:

If these jackasses would learn to build a quality car maybe we'd buy them over Japanese cars. If they go under, and they should, the Japanese will likely build more plants here in the US.

If the government let one of them die and a few hundred thousand UAW members were out of work the rest might get A CLUE! Break the UAW and the rest will take care of itself.

The last thing we need is to lose more manufacturing jobs here in the states. We need to do whatever we can to keep them afloat. Who will pay for all of the service products/jobs if all factory work is gone. This dismantling of the workers wage is some f'd up stuff. The cost of living goes up and you expect Unions to go away and workers with Unions to take lower pay. This is not about GM or Ford but the workers.

Here's an idea for the automakers ... build cars that work. Real simple. GM, Ford, and Chrysler products SUCK! I hope they all go under. Don't give them a dime!

I just hope this doesnt affect the production the Hummer HX scheduled for 2010... I dont even need a solvent GM to want to buy this beast, just the ability to buy replacement parts somewhere in North America.

Poor management and the inability of the UAW to reconize that the gravy train has jumped the track has left the big three gasping for air. Even as a second bailout looms. These idiots were still working out plans at the 11th hour! What have they been doing for these months??? Let em die. As someone who used to deliver auto parts to these plants. These UAW workers are some of the most lazy worker's out there! I even found a fork lift driver who was supposed to unload my truck fast asleep and when I told the manager he said he was on break! For three hours!! I feel sorry for some but I think the UAW has caused some of the big three's failure. No doubt management is mostly to blame. They should be forced into regular channels like bankruptcy and let the chips fall where they will.

Coupons?? - The money has to come from somewhere. There is no such thing as something for nothing. These companies have a poor business model and are unwilling to change. Either evolve or die. Don't throw the money the government will have to borrow at interest after anything that will not be able to pay it back.

Let them DIE. They had their chance. They lost. Theyve been touting 25MPG as good mileage for years. I vomit everytime I see them spouting this absurdity. They dont have what it takes to survive in an open market, then they should be put out to pasture. Thats how the open market works. Survival of the fittest.

Seems like the best way to help the auto companies is to buy their product. If the government is going to bail them out it seems the best way would be to offer coupons to buyers.
