    Yes, Marcus Mosiah Garvey should be exonerated. He instilled pride in people of African descent and that is why he was attacked by those who did not want this to happen. Garvey teachings inspired African leaders to demand independence from their colonizers. Kwame Nkrumah was a Garveyite and attended UNIA meetings in Harlem while he attended Lincoln University. They read the Negro World in Kenya and many other African countries. Churches in South Africa prayed for Garvey.

    I am a former Peace Corps Volunteer that served in Jamaica [963-1965].My mother was a Garveyite and gave me his name.During my two year tenue I learned a lot about Jamaica and the United States. Their views were different from what I learned back home but I owe a great deal to those individuals that helped me see that the US has faults like all countries and might does not make right.
