I've always thought VMK was too big to not have a fee to play it; how else could they sustain all the staff and equipment necessary to keep it running? Yes, I'd pay to play VMK and it might even be a better site if they charged to play it?

Yes. It is the best family-friendly MMO out there plus it has the Disney "magic." I pay and play Toon Town but like VMK better. I played the in-park quests and did the Disney Rewards program collecting the video codes. I bought VMK pins in the parks for in-game prizes. I *already* paid to play VMK. Please bring it back with: 1) better security 2) a better game formula what will compete well against other "kids" MMOs. Remember, Toon Town's story line is ending. I don't want vmk to end like this. I was unable to even get on line at all from Saturday morning until yesterday afternoon. My dad finally discovered the problem and I was so excited to get back on vmk. Then it happened, I saw the newsletter from Yavn and my world fell apart. How can they do this to us? My friends will be lost forever. Tell me this isn't happening, plz. I have so many ppl that I've met and love like a brother or a sister. My clothes, my rooms and now they say it is coming to an end. I have been playing VMK for 3 years, since BETA testing. I have always been willing to pay for VMK. I do not understand (in my shock and disbelief) why that is not already an option rather than just shutting hte door on us forever. There is NO game out there like VMK (Disney or otherwise). PLEASE don't just close the game without giving us the option to continue is some way.
It is a great game, but it is just a game. I hate to see it go, but life goes on. :)
Thank you vmk for 3 wonderful years of bringing magic into our lives. But we're not ready to let the magic go. To many of us, VMK is our piece of Disney magic that we share daily. It not only brings back cherished memories of Disney park visits and movies; but it also brings a wealth of new friendship, many of which have now bridged the gap of virtal to real. Pay to play? There is a chance that they will keep it open because they were supposed to close it a while back but it was doing so well that they kept it going. WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER TO KEEP IT GOING! VMK is different than any other Disney game. It's not based on a movie, cartoon, or character. It represents ALL Disney parks -- the basis of the Disney experience -- someplace where people of ALL ages can gather and play. I think Walt would approve of VMK; would he approve of its demise? Alot of young people will be hurt by disney closing VMK, they are in their impressionable years and will be losing all their friends they have made on VMK. It will be a hurt that they will not forget and will hold against Disney all of their lives. many players are elderly with no one but VMK friends.A lot of players are disabled and all they have is a computer and VMK. I have a friend on VMK, a young girl that is in a wheel chair from a water skiing accident. Last year she got lukemia and almost died. She had given up on life.The only thing that brought her through was her friends on Vmk and their prayers.She regained her will to live, conquered lukemia and is learning to walk again. If she loses her friends on VMK she will be all alone again. Please do not let this happen.If money is a problem i am sure players will be willing to pay to help defray operation costs. If players can afford a computer they can affore a reasonable monthly fee.I think Disney is making a serious mistake here and should keep VMK open for many many years to come.
I would pay to play in a minute. VMK has been part of my life for almost 3 years and has been so special and magical to me. I have made so many great friends. Disney World is a special place to me and being on VMK is the next best thing to being there.
vmk is so special to me. I play it almost every day, i will pay for it with my own money if i can because my parents will probably never pay for it. I find great friends on vmk, and now that it is closing i will never talk to them again and i will really really miss that. I would not pay to play. I started playing vmk a couple weeks after it opened and I use to be a vmk addict where I would come on non-stop. I use to say why would anyone ever want to quit playing vmk? But as I got older I found out why. Vmk isn't the same for most older people then it is for kids. I love dsney, but this site is directed towards little kids.I'm 16 now and I don't see the joy in playing vmk anymore and I doubt that most parents would pay for their child to play a chat room. Some will, but I bet most won't. Most of the kids that play this game will probably disagree with me, until they get older.

Three years ago, a great company opened a virtual game called VMK. Me and many others have enjoyed this game for many reasons for three years. As of a few days ago, VMK has said that VMK will open it's doors for the last time on May 21, 2008. We can not let this happen. I am standing here today to give VMK a chance to re-think this. I have to admit i would not, BECAUSE this game gets addicting, to the point where your on the computer more than you ever thought you would be. Also it's bad for us to be on, that it can lead to things you dont want it to be lead too. & i know im sounding a so called 'hater' or a so called 'parent' but im not, i use to love this game & i was really addicted but now i cut off because its bad for my eye sight & health, and it lead to some of my friendships with friends i cared for alot. Of course I would pay. This would be cheap entertainment for my kids and myself. I am an adult that loves VMK also. My neighbor and I are always doing new quests when our children are in school. An my nephew only gets to play when he comes in the summer. So he will never be able to log on again. Even after I got him some special magic on his account this past fall (Boo-Who)

It really depends how much it is. I don't want to spend anymore then 49.99 a year to play a game that I play for about 5-10 hours a week. Any less then that I am so in VMK should never close. They can pick new staff that they think can control VMK or some HOSTS that love the game and would just go and still keep it a frienly game. I would try my best to help keep VMK open.

I say we dont do this pay-to-play stuff. I LOVE Vmk but how many moms and dads are gonna let little kids go through on paying. I say they let vmk run on donations after seeing how big of a crowd this got I'm pretty sure there would be enough donations to keep Vmk running. It would be a shame to see this wonderful site fall. Reading the news letter almost brought tears. I've been on vmk for over two years now. At first I thought it was a late April Fools Day joke... it's obviously not! If this pay-to-play thing works half of vmk's community will fall. I thought disney would notice that kids love this free game and that some kids can not afford paying every month.(not saying I am) Hope VMK stays!!

I'd be very happy to pay-to-play with a fee similar to ToonTown. This is the only online game where families can play together - much as families can enjoy the real Disney parks.
Why wouldn't I pay to be able to experience Disney parks from home whenever I want to and meet great friends? Besides, it seems like this is something that could actually convince them to keep VMK going.

although i love vmk, and play it ALOT, i think 'paying to play' is undermining all of the issues Disney stands for such as equality. This shouldn't just be for people who are willing to pay, but for everyone. Dispite the size of the growing online game, the advertisments they get in return for the site outweigh the cost, effort, and resources they may be using. Descrimination in the real world is enough, we don't need it virtually as well. :]
VMK is a place where you can be yourself, and have friends, and just be happy. Also it is free and really fun. I think that VMK should SO stay because there are not a lot of places that kids can just hang and be safe, but VMK is so that. I would pay to play, but I want it to stay forever! Disney Online isn't very smart desicion makers one bit. They can make it pay to play, but no, they have to lose even more money to shut it down. It is a lose lose situation here. Players lose and the staff lose even more.. @_@
I would be willing to pay 5$ or so a month PER account, as Hula pointed out there are over 250,000 active accounts. With even half of those at 5$ a month, is 3/4 of a million a month.

i love VMK so much, but i know that i wouldn't be able pay to play on teh site :( i wish i would be able to but i really wish they would keep it going with out any money in return. over the years i've made alot of friends and learned more about disney, and told people about how great it is. In the long run that itself would increase buisness at one of the disneyland locations! If it's a money issue with VMK, then make the cads and stuff cost more. If you can afford going to disneyland, then you can probably afford paying the extra few dollars for a game card. VMK is a great place for people to talk and HAVE FUN while mkaing new FRIENDS, and i DON'T think it should end because ' it's exceeded people's expectations'! im sorry but i would not be willing to pay. Disney made a mistake by taking away the vmk codes from disney world thats what made people want to go so much they want to go and get codes just start that up again and you will make more money. and they will have fun while being there.
We would have saved a ton of money if VMK had been pay to play or pay for special items. Intstead we paid for trips, pins/cards, and movies. Make it pay to play and keep VMK around.

I am still in shock. To think that this magical place will close in only a matter of days (44, and counting ..) saddens me. As others have said above, VMK is much more than a game, it's a community. (If) When VMK closes it's gates, I will not mourn the loss of my "rare" possessions, for they are only pixels after all, what I will miss are THE PEOPLE who inhabit this lil' online world. I consider myself lucky to have been able to (virtually) meet so many wonderful people, from all around the globe, people who I would never have found if not for this place - People who have touched my life, and left imprints on my heart. :( I don't understand Disney's reason for wanting to close one of THE MOST POPULAR multiplayer games available online now. VMK has a HUGE base of established (loyal) players, and new 'Guests' were joining every day. Why scrap what seems to me to be, a successful site?? What is Disney gaining by closing VMK, and is it really all about money?? If so, I think Walt would be disgusted, for he did not create this phenomena which is Disney for sheer profit, he wanted to bring HAPPINESS and JOY into people's lives. Its is insane. Sorry but I would never pay to play. For one, we dont know where exactly our money is going to. Two, I will miss vmk because of all the close memories, but I'm not paying so all the little staff can get payed more so the rest of us can go in to poverty. I don't really know. I don't play VMK much anymore so yeah, it would be hard to decide. But i do love VMK and as soon as I heard I bawled my eyes out. I love VMK and would hate if it closed. Even my sisters like it, and they like to watch me play. It's a haven, a second life for me, and it would kill me to see it go. && I agree- walt wouldn't like this either!
As much as I do love VMK and have been with this game for three years, there's a limit to the cost to play... I mean really it's only a virtual game but on the other hand I really do love it and I don't know what I am going to do when it's gone.. So I actually would pay... This game means so much to me, the friends and the cool theme months, I can't bear to see it all go.

Ok I am a Mother and a avid VMK player all my friends on VMk are Mother and Fathers and Grandmothers! It is not just Kids playing it is whole families! This is 1 game I will let my children play ( well was going to when they got a bit older) I play VMk to relax and forget about all the stress by going to my Virtual Magic Kingdom it makes me feel better to have some sort of outlet everyday. I amnot going to worry about pay to play I just want VMk to stay it IS the best family play site all around. I am afriad we will lose great friends and not have as much contact with family members across the world if VMK closes. I thought that was the purpose of Disney to bring Families together wether Disney realizes that or not Vmk was doing just that! It will be a great sadness in this family to see VMk go. Please consider keeping it alive!
I agree full heartedly with nobodyshere (my mom in real) and comic_cheshire (my best friend). We LOVE vmk and it saddens my whole family that they are closing VMK. Walt Disney didn't want the parks to be about money. He wanted them to be about the magic and the fun. I really hope that vmk will stay open because I have made so many good friends. I don't want to lose them. VMK is the only good family online game I've seen. It shouldn't go to waste...
I would be willing to pay a small amount to play the game. It's the best of all the virtual games I have ever encountered - and I have encountered a lot! VMK, Club Penguin, Pirates Online, ToonTown, Habbo Hotel, and even Runescape are all games I have played. If I had to choose between them, I would most certainly choose Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom.

Hello, as you may know, VMK is a virtual home to everyone. I voted YES because to lose a home is a big tradgety. Its not too late. we all shall fight to keep VMK Open forever. even though difficult issues are going around the Kingdom. we cannot let any creators or staff to take away our friends and life. Why would u ppl close vmk!! and i would not be willing to pay because some people wouldnt be able to afford it, like my parents say its a waste of money for me to be a member on clubpenguin!! so i would never be able to go on!

Disney needs to realize that it's not all about money. Walt was a better person then that, he understood that everyone in the world couldn't afford certain things. Yes, I would definitely pay for VMK. I always wondered why such a great game was free. Doesn't anyone see the goldmine that exists here? Just get a corporate sponsor to purchase or back. Then charge a fee like Toontown, which we are also members of. Parents and children play! And parents pay...and will keep paying to play.
I wouldn't pay to play. Disney has enough money to keep this site going, obviously they're closing it. this site was made for Disneyland 50th Anniversary Celebration. Also some players cannot afford to pay for vmk.

I wouldn't pay to play! People have formed their little cliques and paying to play would only make them worse. The kids on vmk are more friendly than most of the adults!
This is sad that it has come down to money. That society will take a game from children to make a dollar. My son cried when I told him that VMK was closing. This is just horrible. I hope that the people that make the executive decesions have familes that one day have something taken away from them that they care about. I have spent too much money going to Dinsey World doing inpark quests for these things to just disappear. This is surely not what Walt's visions was for his girl's when he was dreaming of all this. I would be turning in his grave if he could see what was happening to these children, because that is what this is about, the children. forget lining your pockets with money think of someone else for a minute. think of their hearts and their feelings. DO SOME GOOD IN THE WORLD. KEEP VMK THE AS MAGICAL AS THE PARKS ARE.
I'm a lifetime Disney fan and have no interest in joining the other sites they offer as an alternative. Please give us the chance to show our loyalty to Disney and VMK by allowing VMK to continue as a pay site!
I also don't have any interest in joining the other Disney sites. VMK is the only place I see, that Disney offers, where it doesn't matter what age you are. It will be sorely missed if allowed to fade away! What a shame!!

I have paid Toontown Online and POTCO accounts. I never play those games because it's difficult to have friends, and it takes too long to do much of anything. They're single player games with people who are technically playing with you, except they don't. And they look horrible if you don't play them fullscreen. And then you can't go on related forums and talk about what's going on in-game. Plus they suffer from too much lag. Make VMK Pay-To-Play.
VMK does not need money to make the game better bc it is already great!! i go on everyday after school bc school always gets me stressed out. VMK is the place were you can get away from all of your troubles and it is a fun, safe enviornment for kids. Kids see by playing this game that you can have fun while being safe. VMK shows them which websites are the right ones for them. Some kids end up getting in bad situations from bad websites like Myspace and dating website!! Here in VMK, they are always safe bc they have the best rules and VMK is the best game on the internet! I would pay to play if it wasnt a lot of money but some kids would not be able to play VMK anymore bc parents think that they are wasting time on the computer. They dont understand the *magic* we get from this website. Some people only end up going to DLR and WDW bc of VMK!! Hello, I would pay to pay for VMK with my own savings. Really its a good site to meet people and know your safe and at the same time having fun. I love to play Pirates with my friends (Since where just plain good at it lol) to me its like, for example if I had a bad day. I just go and play POTC to take my mind of things and think and at the same time enjoying it. I would hate to lose connection with my VMK friends. I move A LOT and making friends isn't the easiest of things, so whenever I move I know I can still talk to friends through VMK, especially good friends that love and respect one another.
